Come on down for Happy Hour!

If you love oysters, you might want to work through lunch and head over for happy hour. Ice Cold Gulf Oysters are available every day for 25 cents a piece from 3 to 4 p.m. and go up by a quarter an hour until 6. This promotion has already been a smashing success!

Chef McConnell expected around 1,000 oysters per week, and we’re actually doing somewhere in the neighborhood of 4,000 per week instead. In addition to this raw molluskicide option, 55 South also offers roasted oysters with seven different toppings including Bienville, Rockefeller and Creole Honey Mustard.

Lunch business is booming, so come quick to get a seat. A Sunday brunch is also featured and we are planning a Mardi Gras party for February 16. Drop in and enjoy the delta goodness.

Just finished my first meal at 55 South and am impressed – - very impressed! I am from the MS Gulf Coast near New Orleans, so the menu selections of seafood and other favorite southern/Cajun staples made choosing difficult. Not a bad problem to have!

The gumbo, chopped salad with seafood, roast beef poboy at my table were really outstanding and very authentic. From the satisfied looks of people sitting at nearby tables, 55 South will live long and prosper. Compliments to the chef and staff! I will return soon. :)

Awesome food last night! GREAT service!! Having lived in New Orleans for a long time and marrying a New Orleans boy, we are really critical when it comes to finding good New Orleans style food this far “North”, but WOW!! The gumbo was perfection, the red beans and rice tasted like what I make at home, and the boudin balls…YUM!! We’ll be back!
